D'Jarkarta Cafe (Philly)

On Saturday, February 16, 2019, we celebrated George's birthday at D'Jarkarta Cafe, 1540 W. Ritner Street, Philadelphia, PA 19145 (215-463-8888), for a wonderful 3 1/2 hour lunch. Wonderful friends, very personable servers, and a beautiful day!

We share many plates, all of which were extremely flavorful!

Deep Fried Shrimp with Butter Sauce - the sauce was slightly sweeter than the calamari sauce. The heads on was a plus.

(Cumi Goreng Says Menta) Sweet and Sour Squid - perfectly cooked and seasoned to perfection. The accompanying sauce was quite spicy.

Deep fried chicken with sweet and sour sauce - includes the bones, which were delicious! One of our favorites.

Jay was interested in the fried goodies also available. This fried tempeh tastes like chicken skin - she couldn't stop eating them!

Hekeng Udang (Shrimp Roulade) - more like shrimp mouse, with pork, and fried to crunchy goodness. The sweet chili sauce was an excellent accompaniment.

Pangsit Goretng (Fried Wonton) chicken with Sweet Chili Sauce - We had 2 orders - crunchy goodness!

(Sate Kambing) Lamb Satay Skewer - Unfortunately, one skewer was fatty, but very tasty overall. Juicy and flavorful! We preferred the sweet soy sauce to the peanut sauce.

Beef Rendang (slow cook braised beef in coconut milk, herbs and spices) - extremely tender and full of flavor.

Highly recommend visiting this place. Family owned. Very nice people, and delicious food! You will not be disappointed.

We hoped for the Fried Banana dessert, but it was not available - next time, for sure!

We will definitely return! There are many dishes we still wish to try!

Ginger Asian Cuisine

Today's lunch took us back to one of our favorites, Ginger Asian Cuisine, 7 Wilkins Station Road, Medford, NJ 08055 (609-953-7888). Everyone greeted us and asked "where have you been?" Love this place!

We shared appetizers:

Ribs - Ken has been craving these!

Fried Dumplings

Ken enjoyed the Mongolian Pork, with brown rice.

Jay enjoyed the Fish Fillets with Black Bean Sauce Lunch Special. She chose white rice, and hot and sour soup, which is so much more flavorful than the ones at other Chinese restaurants.

Ken was still a little hungry, so we shared grilled chicken skewers with peanut sauce.

Orange quarters and fortune cookies come with the bill.

No wine this time. We enjoyed two pots of Oolong tea.

We'll start to visit more often...
