Ginger Asian Cuisine (Couldn't Stay Away!)

Jay and Ken returned to Ginger Asian Cuisine, 7 Wilkins Station Road, Medford, NJ 08055 (609-953-7888), on Thursday, June 22, 2023, for dinner. Jay wanted to make sure she didn't miss the Salt and Pepper Soft Shell Crab special before the end of the month.

We shared the ribs (Ken's favorite!)

Jay chose the hot and sour soup, which came with the entree.

Ken enjoyed the Korean BBQ Beef.

Since Ken doesn't like soup, he picked the spring roll to go with his entree.

Red bean mochi finished the meal.

Ginger Asian Cuisine (We're Back!)

Not sure why it took so long, but we're back to one of our favorites! Jay and Ken enjoyed a wonderful meal on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at Ginger Asian Cuisine, 7 Wilkins Station Road, Medford, NJ 08055-9610 (609-953-7888). It was nice to be greeted by friendly faces who actually missed us like we missed them!

So happy to get the fried noodles. We missed the hot mustard!

We shared Vietnamese Fried Chicken Wings. Crunchy goodness. No need for the dipping sauce.

Ken was craving the Saigon Bull, and he was not disappointed! He ordered the spring roll, which came with the meal.

Jay craved the Whole Fish, Szechuan style. The Sea Bass was wonderful! She took home some of the fish and most of the veggies for the next day's dinner. It was supposed to be for 2-3 people but she got through it! LOL

We both had the brown rice.

Jimmy is an amazing server and we can't wait to return before the end of the month so Jay can get the soft shell crab special.

Wanda BYOB

Dinner with our neighbors took Jay and Ken to Wanda BYOB, 116 Kings Highway, Suite 4, Haddonfield, NJ 08033 (856-520-8114), on Saturday, May 20, 2023. What an enjoyable experience! We were seated for our 6pm reservation (recommended) on the 2nd floor. Our server Scott was very attentive, and everyone was very pleasant.

Appetizers:

Jay enjoyed the Cooper Pot Escargot - chartreuse, hazelnuts, garlic, rich Demi-glace, toast points. Nice portions and very flavorful.

Our neighbors shared the Goat Cheese Croquettes - panko crust, lavender honey, walnut.

Ken enjoyed the Crispy Brussels Sprouts - bacon, roasted pipits, sun dried cranberries, apple cider vinaigrette.

Entrees:

L enjoyed the Braised Short Rib of Beef - Kings Road English Porter, roasted root vegetables, dinosaur kale.

Jay devoured the Seared Rohan Duck Breast - essence of oranges, lemon thyme, banyuls vinegar, blackberry, glace de canard. Cooked to perfection!

B had the Scottish Salmon and was quite pleased - beech mushroom, crispy parsnip, Shanghai tip, brown jasmine rice, roasted lobster broth.

Ken was satisfied with the Chilean Sea Bass - crispy purple potato, choy sum, miso ginger emulsion.

Dessert was wonderful!

Creme Brûlée

Belgian Apple Tart - caramel sauce, vanilla ice cream

Chocolate Mousse Cake - rich chocolate mousse, chambord, tri-berry sauce, cacao nibs

Gass & Main (American BYO)

For May's lunch, Jay and Ken met Karin and George at Gass & Main, 7 Kings Court, Haddonfield, NJ 08033 (973-721-3179), on Friday May 19, 2023. We had a wonderful time. Everything was unique and delicious! Jennifer was such a pleasant and knowledgeable server!

We shared the following:

Brussels Chips - flash fried Brussels leaves, lemon pepper spice. We were all surprised that Ken enjoyed them! (He doesn't normally like Brussels sprouts)

Gnocchi Mac & Cheese - truffle gnocchi, mornay, truffle peelings, lemon herb breadcrumb. Addictive!

Jay and George shared a dozen Oysters from Brigantine. They came with mignonette, creme fraiche, salmon roe, and lemon. They were wonderful.

Ken and George split "The World's Best Hot Dog" - Snake River Wagyu Beef, housemate sweet heat mustard, pickled celery, pickled shallot, split top brioche. They were impressed.

Jay and Karin shared Smoked Salmon BLT - Nova lox, green goddess, shredduce, pickled green tomato, and Nueske bacon on grilled sourdough. The sandwich was filling and yummy! Jay couldn't stop eating everyone's fries!

Ken and George also split the Shrimp Po'Boy - New Orleans style cajun grilled shrimp, shredduce, fried green tomato and comeback sauce. It was heavenly.

Fried Green Tomato Chips - slightly pickled, thinly shaved, & lightly breaded with comeback sauce. Crispy deliciousness.

For dessert, we shared All American Apple Pie - baked in house, apple cinnamon filling, turbinado sugar crusted, vanilla bean ice cream, and a snowfall of hand-made prairie breeze aged cheddar. Perfect ending to the meal.

Bistro Southeast (A Philly Favorite!)

Celebrating Ken’s milestone birthday, Jay & Ken met Karin & George at Bistro Southeast, 1824 South St, Philadelphia, PA 19146-1419 (267-758-2838),  on Saturday, March 18, 2023, for lunch.

Since the pandemic, they have changed to take-out/delivery options only, but Van was so gracious and kind to allow us to dine in for this special occasion.

We arrived to find beautiful roses on the table. We were so happy to return!

We enjoyed two orders of Thai Chili Wings, which are the BEST! Crunchy and flavorful.

We also shared an order of dumplings. So good!

George coordinated in advance with Van for the seafood boil, which was AMAZING!

4 lobster tails, 2 pounds of snow crab legs, 2 pounds of shrimp, 2 pounds of crawfish, plus potatoes, corn, and sausage. We chose the cAsian sauce, which was addictive.

We were wowed! And we finished the whole thing!  

We were treated to Mango sticky rice for dessert. What a feast!
