JJ Thai Cuisine (Philly)

Our monthly lunch took Jay and Ken back to Philly to meet Karin and George at JJ Thai Cuisine, 2028 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103-4488 (215-568-7058), on Friday, December 27, 2024. Once again, we had a wonderful meal!

We shared the following appetizers:

Curry Puff (puff pastry, minced chicken, onion, curry powder)

Shrimp and Crab Roll (crispy fried with puree soybean and cilantro sauce)

Baby Back Ribs (with Thai BBQ sauce)

Duck Ravioli (duck, mushroom, truffle oil, red wine reduction)

Entrees:

Karin enjoyed the Beef Pad Thai (stir fried rice noodle, bean curd, scallion, peanut, bean sprout and egg)

Jay enjoyed the Pan Seared Scallop (spinach, asparagus, and garlic sauce)

Ken and George shared the Massaman Short rib (slow cooked Angus short rib, pearl onion, cashew nut, Brussel sprout, Thai massaman curry)

Everything was flavorful and delicious, as always! Nice way to end the year.

Too full for dessert this time.

Sophie's Kitchen (Cambodian) - Philly

Jay and Ken's monthly lunch with Karin and George took us to Sophie's Kitchen, 522 Washington Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19147 (215-271-0888). We had a fantastic lunch! Thanks to Tony and Naia (sp?) for a wonderful experience!

We shared the following:

Wings - Thai Chili Sauce

Calamari - so good! We ordered another!

Salt and Pepper Shrimp

Chicken Skewers

Beef Skewers

Fried Fish (Black Sea Bass) - We selected Sweet and Sour Tamarind sauce - very flavorful!

Everything was fresh and flavorful! Looking forward to our next visit. We definitely want to try the Shaking Beef.

Ginger Asian Cuisine (A Favorite!)

Jay and Ken visited Ginger Asian Cuisine, 7 Wilkins Station Road, Medford, NJ 08055 (609-953-7888),  on Saturday, October 5, 2024. It's been over a year since our last visit (WHY?) and we were greeted like family! As always, we had a wonderful meal.

The fried noodles are always fresh and delicious! Ken had the spring roll and Jay enjoyed the hot and sour soup.

We shared the Spare Ribs (Ken's favorite!). They make the best.

Ken had the Saigon Bull (another favorite).

Jay devoured the Salt and Pepper Soft Shell Crab Special.

Corey's Crafty Vietnamese (Philly)

Our monthly lunch on a dreary Saturday took Jay and Ken to Corey's Crafty Vietnamese Cuisine, 1314 South Street, Philadelphia, PA, 19147 (267-703-2299), on Saturday, September 28, 2024, to meet Karin and George. Once again, we had a fantastic meal!

Corey and Robert are so personable and nice!

Golden Bags - shrimp and crabmeat with sweet chilies sauce

Seafood Fried Rice - very flavorful!

Allora (Italian)

Our monthly lunch with Karin and George brought us to Allora, 892 Route 73 North, Marlton, NJ 08053 (856-596-6882), on Friday, August 23, 2024. Can't believe it's been 2 years since our last visit! As always, everything was delicious! Laura was a wonderful server!

We shared the following:

The bread was so good we ordered another basket.

Supply - Crispy Italian rice, meat, and cheese balls served over San Marzano tomato sauce. So good we started with 2 orders!

Fried Calamari - Crispy, dusted calamari rings served with marinara dipping sauce. Cooked to tender perfection!

Shrimp & Crab Meat Fra Diablo - Pan seared wild shrimp in a spicy red sauce with jumbo lump crabmeat, housemade semolina spaghetti. Delicious!

Jay and Karin shared the Allora Eggrolls - Ground sausage, broccoli rabe, red peppers and mozzarella cheese served on a bed of blush sauce. The sausage was so flavorful!

Ken and George shared Nicky's Parmigiana/Vitello (Veal Parmesan) baked with marinara and mozzarella, which they both devoured. (Shown is a 1/2 portion!)

Karin and George shared the Lemon Cake.
