Wanda BYOB

Celebrating the January birthdays for Jay and Karin, George and Ken treated for a special dinner at Wanda BYOB, 116 Kings Highway E Suite 4 (The Shops at 116), Haddonfield, NJ 08033 (856-520-8114), on Saturday, January 13, 2024. Reservations are highly recommended. Everything was delicious!



Warm bread and butter are immediately brought out. So good, we had seconds!


We shared the following appetizers:

Crispy Brussels Sprouts (bacon, roasted pepitas, sun dried cranberries, apple cider vinaigrette)

Goat Cheese Croquettes (panko crust, lavender honey, walnut)


Jay and George shared the Copper Pot Escargot (chartreuse, hazelnuts, garlic, rich demi-glace, toast points)

Entrees:

Karin wanted to eat light so she chose the Classic Caesar Salad (romaine hearts, focaccia croutons, parmigiano-reggiano) and Soupe a l'mignon (crusty bread, gruyere cheese)

Jay and George each chose the Scallops Special with spinach and black rice. Jay added caviar to her meal. Excellent lobster sauce!


Ken enjoyed the Chilean Sea Bass (crispy purple potato, choy sum, miso ginger emulsion)

Dessert:

Jay, Karin, and George shared the Creme Brûlée

Ken was excited for the Belgian Apple Tart (caramel sauce, vanilla ice cream)

Kunkel's Seafood & Steakhouse

Mary was able to snag a 6pm reservation to Kunkel's Seafood & Steakhouse, 920 Kings Highway, Haddon Heights, NJ 08035-1218 (856-547-1225) for New Year's Eve, December 31, 2023. She wanted a place with music and they delivered! We had a wonderful time! They had a special menu with lots of options. It was nice being greeted by Carol, who remembered us.

The musician had a beautiful voice!

Appetizers:

Jay and Terry selected 2 of each of the 5 oyster offerings. All were fresh and unique. Terry preferred the Cape May Salts. Jay preferred the Crystal Cove (Barnetgat Bay/Beach Haven). Other included were Silky Salts (Margate/Longport), Stormy Bay (Fortescue), and Sloop Point (Upper Barnegat Bay/Mantoloking)

Mary enjoyed the Crispy Duck Ravioli.

Ken enjoyed the Kunkel's Killer Shrimp (sautéed in spicy killer sauce, with garlic bread).

Mary also enjoyed the Sun-dried Tomato soup.

The bread was warm and crusty.

Salads, with homemade dressing came with our entrees. Mary and Jay had the blue cheese dressing and Ken had the Balsamic dressing.

Terry had the Caesar Salad (crisp romaine lettuce, special garlic caesar dressing tossed with house-made croutons and shaved parmesan cheese).


Entrees:

Terry enjoyed the Fiery Thai Calamari (with spicy-sweet orange chili sauce) appetizer as his entree.


Jay couldn't finish the Provencal Veal Ragout (braised boneless veal, tomato based with dry white wine, onions, carrots, potatoes, nicoise olives, with a hint of orange citrus zest) and took half home for the next day's dinner. Excellent!

Ken and Mary were estactic about their Honey Soy Glazed Sesame Scallops, served over a wild and brown rice.

We shared the Drunken Bourbon Cherry Freeze (cheesecake freeze topped with wet nuts and whipped cream). What a unique dessert! Very tasty!
